At Crescent Wheels, we understand the joy that comes from hitting the open road in your RV or motorhome. Whether it’s a Class A Fleetwood, a cozy Class B Airstream, or a spacious travel trailer from Jayco, these vehicles often hold cherished memories from family vacations, tailgating adventures, or cross-country explorations. However, if your RV sits unused or is becoming a financial burden, we’re here to offer you a simple solution.
Donating your recreational vehicle to Crescent Wheels not only clears the driveway but also provides you with valuable tax deductions. Many of our donors find themselves with RVs that are no longer used and costly to maintain. Your donation can help us fund vital community programs in New Orleans, turning your surplus into a helping hand for those in need.

How pickup works
When you donate your RV or motorhome to Crescent Wheels, our experienced team will coordinate a hassle-free pickup process tailored specifically for your vehicle type. We employ specialized RV-transport flatbeds or drive-away services to ensure your vehicle is handled safely and efficiently. Most commonly, pickups occur from storage lots, so if you’re not on site, our team will communicate directly with the facility to schedule a convenient time. Please note that the height and length of your RV are crucial for logistics, as most states require maximum 13'6" clearance routing. We strive to make the donation process as smooth as possible for you!
What drives donation value
The value of your RV or motorhome donation is influenced by several key factors. The condition of the house systems, such as the roof, slides, plumbing, and air conditioning, typically holds more weight than the drivetrain condition. Be aware that water damage can significantly devalue your vehicle. Recent maintenance records can enhance the vehicle's worth, demonstrating it has been well cared for. Also, consider the seasonality of RV auctions, as spring tends to yield the highest values. For classic RVs, an appraisal by a qualified appraiser using IRS Form 8283 Section B is essential to establish value.
Documentation you need
- Vehicle title (must be clear and transferable)
- Current vehicle registration
- Service records for maintenance and repairs
- Appraisal for classic RVs for tax purposes
- Manufacturer's Statement of Origin (MSO) if applicable
New Orleans specifics
In Louisiana, RVs and motorhomes are typically titled through the DMV, and it's important to ensure that the title is clear and free of liens before donating. While a bill of sale is sometimes used for informal transactions, a state-issued title is required for donation purposes. Crescent Wheels is knowledgeable about local DMV rules and can assist you in navigating any necessary paperwork, ensuring a seamless donation experience in New Orleans.
